Meet My Family
My husband Matt and I have been married 14 years and have 3 sons: Luke (11), Caleb (9), and Ben (4). I had 4 years of previous child care experience working in a couple different child care centers while in college. I then took a job outside child care for several years. After the birth of my second son I decided to get my daycare license to stay home with my boys and get back into child care. I have been licensed since March 2013. In my free time I like to bake, sew, and spend time with my family.
About My Daycare Space
My daycare is run out of my home. I have a large playroom that we spend most of our day in. I have many different play areas and types of toys for the children to use. We have a walk out sliding door in our playroom that leads to our backyard for outdoor play. My almost fully fenced backyard offers a small basketball court, dome climber, swing set, play house, smaller climbers, and lots of ride on and outdoor toys.
My Teaching Style
We learn through play. Each month we have two or three themes. We also incorporate colors, letters, numbers, and shapes throughout the month. We do various activities and read different books based on our themes. In addition to our weekly projects/activities that go along with our theme we also have special fun days a few times a year. Some fun days we have had in the past have been: teddy bear picnic, Polar Express party, superhero day, and pajama party day. During the summer months we like to spend as much time outside as possible enjoying the sun. We still do activities but we scale back a bit so we can enjoy our few short summer months.
My Meals
The children are served breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack each day. I participate in a food program and follow their standards/guidelines. Meals are healthy, delicious, and homemade. I like to serve a variety of vegetables and fresh fruits to the children.
